Recreating the Rickie Lambert goal for SportPesa

Kits For Africa is an initiative that encourages football fans to donate their old kit to sports mad communities across Africa. We were asked by Southampton Football Club to create some content for one of their partners, SportPesa as part of the Kits for Africa campaign, using ex-player, Rickie Lambert. They wanted to recreate his favourite goal with Southampton FC - a free kick that curled into the goal, which went down in history as one of the most significant goals for the club.

This film required a fair bit of advance planning, studying the original footage and working to get the camera angles exactly right, including use of a static drone for one of the shots. It was great to have Rickie Lambert back on the pitch and we worked with the team to set up the kick so it was just right. It took 1.5 hours of filming at the Saints training ground, recreating the goal and interviewing the player, which then we put it together with the original footage to create this promotional film.

A different version was produced for each marketing platform: a short version for social media, bearing in mind the different frame requirements for Instagram and Facebook, as well as a longer version for their website via YouTube.

Saints Training Camps

The Saints Foundation, in conjunction with Southampton Football Club run a series of training camps throughout the year during school holidays for children aged 5-13, giving youngsters of all abilities the opportunity to receive a high quality of coaching, learn new skills and make new friends in the footballing world.

The Saints Foundation asked Bullet to help them promote both the residential and day camps and we produced two sales films as a result, highlighting all the positive experiences the children had enjoyed. We took footage at various locations of the training camps and interviewed coaches and children about the benefits of their experiences. We also produced a couple of social media teasers to give a variety of videos for the charity to use as part of their content marketing strategy.

Southampton Cup

The Southampton Cup is an international youth academy tournament that we were asked to film to demonstrate the energy, vibrance and fun that that the teams have in the tournament. Boys and girls of all ages visited from America, Africa and Europe to take part, and we filmed their activities over the course of a week. Much of the filming took place at Southampton's Staplewood training ground.

Vendee Globe - Hugo Boss

We worked with Hugo Boss to create online video content for the Vendee Globe with three objectives in mind: Firstly to raise awareness and build excitement in the countdown to the event, secondly to capture live action for weekly updates whilst the race was on, and finally to produce a round-up of the whole event to help Hugo Boss secure sponsorship for the next race. The conditions were challenging to say the least, filming aboard helicopters, boats and RIBs but the end result was a great success. The videos achieved 30-40,000 views on social media - and Hugo Boss secured their sponsorship for the following year.

Invictus Games

We were honoured to be asked to film the Invictus Games and sent Matthew out to Florida for a week on his own to shoot the event. He spent several long 15-hour days filming track-side in extreme temperatures, using multiple cameras and gimbal stabilisers to capture the high-speed footage, interviewing key team members and being on hand for all the behind the scenes action. He was constantly creating new content to send back to the UK for daily social media updates - he even edited footage on the plane, taken earlier that day of the competitors arriving for their flight to be ready to show once they touched down in Florida. Each video received 30-40,000 views via social media. It was a truly memorable and inspirational filming experience and one we'll never forget.

Here's the pre-games film we made whilst on location in Orlando, Florida.

Southampton Football Club Same Game Campaign

Southampton FC wanted to raise the profile of women's football within the club and asked Bullet to create a series of videos to promote the 'Same Game Campaign'. We interviewed the top team players, coaches and the Director of Football, and filmed live training sessions to capture the action. We had to work quickly in the editing suite to go live in time for the FA Girls' Football Week and the first film aired at St Mary's stadium before the Southampton v Burnley kickoff. A film was released every day of the week via social media and the club's own website, with each video receiving more than 20,000 views.
